In collaboration with London architects HETA, we have developed a number of striking pavilions suitable for areas of architectural sensitivity or where maximum impact is needed. These are elegant, innovative, eco-friendly structures that present squash in an outdoor context whilst providing a certain amount of protection from the elements. They rely on a structure of layered elements of timber, flitch connectors and steel tension joints that combine to create a lightweight roof capable of large spans without compromising views of the courts.

The pavilion is designed to be energy efficient and environmentally discreet. A hybrid system of timber, steel and concrete allows efficient use of the structural properties of each material and uses less carbon than an equivalent steel structure. Fixed horizontal louvres give protection from direct light and help maintain a thermally controlled environment. Low-energy air-intake is via concealed vents below the tin. Automated opening vents (AOV) systems are activated with temperature and humidity sensors.

Solar PV cells on the roof generate renewable electricity while active flooring transforms footfall on the court into clean electricity and data for feedback analysis. The courts will integrate the latest digital technology for a state-of-the-art training including video tracking & analysis and LED visualisation technology.

Return on Investment

Land values are typically higher than in most countries and if investment in sport facilities is going to be made, the owner/operator needs to ensure that the courts are being used for extended periods throughout the day and evening, and certainly all year to ensure a return on investment. Padel Plus’s canopies with best-in-class lighting and heating ensure courts can be enjoyed from early morning until late at night all 12 months of the year.

Acoustic Reduction

Many clubs and sports facilities are in residential areas meaning noise can be a factor in securing planning permission. Our canopies have very good acoustic reduction properties that help to manage the sound of multiple courts in close proximity to each other, and indeed to homes.
